Dehradun: Temples across Dehradun are beginning to sparkle with colourful lights and festive decorations as the city prepares to celebrate Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, on September 4.
From the city centre to residential neighbourhoods, temples are being illuminated with strings of lights, decorative arches and colourful embellishments, giving the city a distinctly festive look. Devotees are also making preparations for special prayers, bhajans and cultural programmes to mark the auspicious occasion.
Several temples are expected to witness large gatherings on Janmashtami night, when devotees will observe fasts and gather for the midnight celebrations traditionally associated with the birth of Lord Krishna.
The illumination of the temples has already added a festive glow to Dehradun, with the preparations reflecting the city’s deep-rooted tradition of celebrating Janmashtami with devotion, music and colour.
