Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday allocated portfolios to the new ministers but retained with himself the most important ones under a key reshuffle.
In the reshuffle and distribution of portfolios among the new five ministers, Dhami retained key departments like Home, Finance, Information, Revenue, Industrial Development, Mining, Energy, Excise and Civil Aviation under his own command.
According to a notification issued by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Subodh Uniyal, who currently holds the portfolios of Forest and Parliamentary Affairs has been entrusted with the additional charge of Health and Medical Education.
However, the Technical Education portfolio has been taken away from Uniyal and handed over to Dhan Singh Rawat, who was previously heading the Health Ministry. Rawat would retain School Education, Sanskrit Education, and Cooperatives.
The portfolios of Panchayati Raj and Watershed Management was taken away from ailing Satpal Maharaj and given to Madan Kaushik, who has also been assigned the portfolios of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, AYUSH and AYUSH Education, and Census.
The Rural Development portfolio has been taken away from Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi and given to Bharat Singh Chaudhary, who has also been entrusted with the responsibility of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Newly appointed minister Khajan Das has been given charge of Social Welfare, Minority Welfare, and Student Welfare, while Pradeep Batra was given the portfolios of Transport, Information Technology, Science and Technology, and Biotechnology. Ram Singh Kaira has been given Urban Development, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and Watershed Management.
However, the portfolios of Rekha Arya and Saurabh Bahuguna remained unchanged.
Dhami had expanded his cabinet on Friday, inducting Das, Kaushik, Kaira, Batra, and Chaudhary into the council of ministers.
