After two days of disruption, the electricity has been restored in Nainital city on Tuesday, top UPCL officials said.

Parts of Nainital were facing acute electricity crisis after the Sunday’s squall that uprooted many poles and trees plunging the lake city into darkness.

Top officials of the UPCL said the restoration work was launched in full swing. “We have restored electricity in Nainital city,” a UPCL official said.

“For the past 2-3 days, Nainital is facing major electricity crisis. Even some parts of Mall Road were in dark,” said Jyotsna Dwivedy, a Dehradun-based Chartered Accountant (CA), who is holidaying in Nainital during the past 2 days.

Meanwhile, many hotels have also reported LPG shortage in Nainital.
