A 52-year-old property dealer from Punjab allegedly died after falling from the fifth floor of an under-construction building in the Raipur area of Dehradun on Monday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Pankaj Mittal, a resident of Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab.

Preliminary investigations revealed Mittal appears to have died after falling from the fifth floor of the under-construction building, Circle Officer Vandana Verma said.

Senior police officers inspected the scene, while field and forensic teams were called in to conduct a scientific and technical examination and collect evidence.

The police have initiated the inquest proceedings, and the body is being sent for post-mortem examination.

Verma said Mittal had been living in Dehradun for around one-and-a-half years and was involved in property dealing and building construction work.

Police are investigating the incident from all possible angles, and further action will be taken based on the findings, she added.
