Dussehra festival was celebrated in Uttarakhand with great religious fervour on Tuesday.

Participating at the main function marking the burning of effigy of Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran at Parade Ground in Dehradun, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami urged people to shun social evils and follow the ideals of truth, duty and righteousness.

He said Lord Ram’s life exemplified sacrifice and discipline, while Ravana’s arrogance led to his downfall. Dhami said the government had freed over 13,000 acres of encroached government land and provided government jobs to more than 35,000 youths in five years.
