Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday said parents of Anikta Bhandari would decide the future course of action in the murder case, indicating that he was ready for a CBI probe.
“The most affected people (in the Ankita Bhandari case) are the family members and parents. I…will hold talks with (Ankita’s) mother and father. After the talks, we will take legal opinion. Whatever the parents want us to do in the case, we will proceed accordingly,” the Chief Minister told a press conference in Dehradun.
Experts said the CM gave ample indications through his press conference that he was ready for a CBI probe in the politically sensitive case.
The CM’s comments came as the ruling BJP is facing the opposition wrath in the Ankita Bhandari murder case as the protests are mounting on the issue.
Significantly, the Chief Minister also gave a clean chit to BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam saying he was not present in Uttarakhand at the time of murder.
He also said he failed to understand why former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore and his alleged wife Urmila Sanawar have disappeared if they have not committed any crime.
He criticized Congress President Ganesh Godiyal for holding a press conference in New Delhi on the issue soon after the audio was released saying it shows that there was some conspiracy in mind.
