CM Dhami shows his political strength at Parade Ground rally

After getting green signals from the BJP high command that he would lead the party in the 2027 assembly elections in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a public rally in Dehradun’s Parade Ground to show his political strength.

Hours later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a congratulatory message to Dhami on his completion of four years in office. The message was loud and clear to the adversaries, if any. The Prime Minister wrote: Under the leadership of energetic Chief Minister Dhami, the state is rapidly advancing in the fields of development, good governance, and public welfare.

In Dehradun, the Chief Minister, In the presence of a host of Cabinet Ministers and party MLAs, counted the achievements of the “double engine” government in the state.

He said the state’s economy has grown by more than 1.5 times; per capita income has increased by 41 percent over the last four years. The size of the state budget has expanded from ₹60,000 crore to over ₹100,000 crore. 20,000 new industries have been established, the number of startups has risen from 700 to 1,700, heliports have increased from 2 to 12, and helipads have grown from 60 to 118. Electricity generation has more than tripled; over 265,000 women have become “Lakhpati Didis”; the number of hotels has increased by 25 percent, and homestays have witnessed a growth of over 50 percent.

Reverse migration has seen an increase of 44 percent.

Dhami said during the four-year tenure, his government is moving rapidly towards fulfilling its resolve to realize the dreams of the statehood activists and to restore the glory of the state.

Addressing the ‘Char Saal Bemisaal’ (Four Exceptional Years) event held at Parade Ground to mark the completion of his government’s four years, the Chief Minister recalled that exactly four years ago, the people of the state shattered a long-standing myth by electing the BJP to power for a second consecutive term; it was on this very ground, he noted, that he had taken the oath of office and secrecy as the ‘Chief Servant’ of the state.

He further stated that, at that very moment, he had pledged to work relentlessly until the dreams of the statehood activists were fulfilled and the glory of Uttarakhand was fully restored. “Today,” he remarked, “I can say with complete satisfaction and pride that we are making steady progress towards translating our resolve into reality, and the results of these efforts have already begun to manifest clearly.”

He noted that, under the able leadership of the Prime Minister, the state government has, over the past four years, strived to elevate the standard of living of its citizens by strengthening infrastructure across sectors such as roads, education, healthcare, railways, and air connectivity; simultaneously, it has presented a comprehensive vision for the holistic development of the state through various policies and schemes.

Interestingly, Dhami’s Parade Ground rally came close on the heels of two similar jamborees addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Haridwar on March 7 and other by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Haldwani on March 21 where the two top BJP leaders had showered lots of praise on the CM. Rajnath Singh even called Dhami a “dhurandhar.”
