CPI (ML) General Secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya has called for a strong and mature alliance against what he called “the bulldozer raj and Modi’s fascist regime” saying such coalition is the need of the hour.
“Bulldozers are being used to demolish the homes of the poor, dalits, and minorities by instilling fear of demographic change among the people,” Bhattacharya said speaking at the two-day (December 15-16) state committee meeting of the CPI (ML) at the party office, Deepak Bose Bhawan, Bindukhatta in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.
The meeting began with a minute of silence to pay tribute to Comrades Raja Bahuguna and Akhilesh Thakur.
“Under the guise of religious division, 100% foreign direct investment has been announced in the insurance sector, a bill for the privatization of the nuclear energy sector has been introduced in Parliament, and the Modi government is trying to completely dismantle higher education. After the success in the Bihar elections, the work of implementing the new labor codes, which eliminate workers’ rights, has begun,” Bhattacharya said.
“The struggle for workers’ rights was an important part of India’s freedom movement, and Dr. B R Ambedkar also played a leading role in this struggle. Therefore, there is a need to mobilize not only the workers but also other sections of society against the ill effects of the new labor codes,” he said.
The CPI (ML) General Secretary said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is an “attack” on the right to vote, democracy, and the Constitution, a conspiracy to deprive a section of citizens of their democratic right to vote. He said his party will strongly oppose any attempts to target any vulnerable community through the CAA and deprive them of their right to vote, and will stand firmly with the deprived sections.
The meeting was attended by Politburo member Sanjay Sharma, State Secretary Indresh Maikhuri, K.K. Bora, Anand Singh Negi, Bahadur Singh Jangi, Vimla Rauthan, Bhuvan Joshi, Advocate Kailash Joshi, Amandeep Kaur, Lalit Matiyali, Dr. Kailash Pandey, and others.
