In her attempt to end infighting in the state unit, Uttarakhand party state in-charge Kumari Selja on Saturday held talks with veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat who was on 15-day leave from active politics.

There was no statement on what transpired between the two leaders. However, Rawat shared a picture of his meeting with Shelja at Hathibadkala area in Dehradun.

“Expressed respect to Ms. Selja—AICC General Secretary and the Honorable In-charge of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee—by presenting her with a bouquet,” Rawat wrote on the social media while sharing the picture.

Speculations were rife that Shelja, who is on a five-day tour to Uttarakhand, would meet Rawat during her stay in Dehradun to sort out various issues. Rawat is upset after the party high command postponed the entry of his loyalist Sanjay Negi from Ramnagar into Congress.

“This is a very crucial meeting. We are very happy especially when an under-current is favouring Congress in Uttarakhand ahead of the elections. I think the party high command will be able to persuade Rawat ji in view of the larger picture which clearly shows that Congress is coming to power in 2027,” a senior party leader said.

Since her arrival in Rudrapur, Selja has held meaningful discussions with party workers regarding various political, social, and organizational issues in preparation for the coming assembly elections early next year. She also repeatedly called upon all workers to unite and enter the electoral battleground with solidarity.
