The first digital census-2027 began in Uttarakhand on Friday with Governor Lt. Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh opting the online Self-Enumeration at the Lok Bhawan in Dehradun on Friday.
The Governor filled the self-enumeration form online marking the commencement of first phase of the census in the hill state. This census marks India’s first fully digital census, wherein data collection is being conducted entirely through digital devices. Additionally, citizens have been provided with the facility of Self-Enumeration, a secure and web-based system.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also filled the self-enumeration form online at his residence.
The Governor appealed to the residents of the state to ensure their active participation in this significant national campaign and to provide accurate and complete information through the Self-Enumeration process. He stated that this web portal has been designed to be simple and user-friendly, enabling even the common citizen to fill in all the required information without any difficulty.
Eva Ashish Srivastava, Director of the Directorate of Census Operations (Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India), said the work of house-listing and house-enumeration will be conducted across the entire state over a period of 30 days—from April 25 to May 24, 2026.
Prior to the door-to-door survey, the facility of Self-Enumeration will be made available to the residents of the state from April 10 to April 24, 2026. During this period, citizens can log in to the portal https://se.census.gov.in using their mobile numbers and other devices to digitally record information regarding themselves and their families. Secretary Deepak Kumar was also present on this occasion.
