England on Sunday scored a surprise 51 runs victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Pallekele stadium Kendy.
England set a target of 147 runs losing nine wickets with Phil Salt contributing vital 62 runs with two sixes and six fours. From Sri Lankan side, D Wellalage took three vital wickets to give his side a glimmer of hope for the victory.
But chasing the small target, Sri Lankans never looked comfortable right from the beginning against English bowlers as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Sri Lanka was finally bundled out for just 95 runs.
From England, off spinner Will Jacks took three wickets.
