In April, light cold conditions return in north India

Light cold conditions returned in the north India on Tuesday as rains occurred in several parts that plummeted temperatures considerably.

Light to heavy rains lashed most parts of Uttarakhand in the evening. Dehradun recorded a maximum of 25.4 degree C, a steep fall of degrees 4.4 since Monday which was also -6 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature also fell to 14.5 degree C, a drop of 2 notches.

Pantnagar, Mukteshwar and New Tehri also reported fall in temperatures as these areas were lashed by rains. The hill resort of Mussoorie recorded rainfall in the day where the people took out woollen clothes again in the day time.

Reports pouring in from different hill districts said light snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas.

The met Centre in Dehradun said thunderstorm accompanied with lightning / Hail/ gusty winds (wind speed up to 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning / gusty winds (wind speed up to 40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in remaining districts of Uttarakhand.

Maximum Temperatures are likely to fall by 4-6°C during next 24 hours over many places in Uttarakhand, it said.

Weather forecast for north India: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 Kmph) likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand on 07th & 8th April; Isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 Kmph) likely over Jammu Kashmir on 09th & 10th April, Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand on 09th April; Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 Kmph) likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh & East Rajasthan on 07th & 08th April.
