After two days of heavy snowfall this week, the IMD on Sunday said one more western disturbance would bring rainfall and snowfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh from Monday (Mar 23).
Heavy snowfall was lashed at Kedarnath, Badrinath and several other places in the two states on Thursday and Friday that plummeted the temperatures in the region drastically especially during nights.
“In association with current Western Disturbance Isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds speed reaching (30-50 kmph) likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 23rd March and A fresh feeble Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from 26th March 2026.,” the IMD said.
At a time when cold conditions are prevailing in the western Himalayas, the maximum/day temperatures were in the range (35°C-37°C) at a few pockets over Telangana, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Odisha, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh; at isolated pockets over East Rajasthan, Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The highest maximum temperature of 39.9°C was reported at Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan.
