The Surya Tilak ceremony was held in Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on the occasion of Ram Navami on Friday noon.
The event was part of the nationwide celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Lord Ram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched the event on TV.
Surya Tilak is a special ritual in which the sun’s rays are directed in such a way that they fall precisely on the forehead of Lord Ram idol at 12 noon. On Ram Navami, with the help of mirrors and lenses designed by Indian scientists, the sunlight is guided directly into the sanctum, creating a radiant tilak on Lord Ram Lalla’s forehead.
