The 133rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the state-run UJVN Ltd on Tuesday granted permission for the commencement of civil works of the proposed 120 MW Sirkari Bhyol Rupsiabagar hydroelectric project in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
The run of the river Sirkari Bhyol Rupsiabagar project is proposed on the river Goriganga, a tributary of Kali River in Pithoragarh. The project with a proposed installation of 120 MW (3 x 40 MW) is envisaged to generate an annual energy generation of 529.12 MU in a 90% dependable year.
The meeting was held on Tuesday at the Secretariat, presided over by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, who is also Chairman of the company.
During the meeting, the Board deliberated upon numerous proposals pertaining to various matters concerning the Corporation.
The Board approved several proposals related to the construction of new projects within the state.
The Board also issued instructions to obtain approval from the competent authority for the preparation of tender documents for the 600 MW Ichari Pumped Storage Project in Dehradun district.
The Board also approved the proposal to award the civil and hydro-mechanical construction works for the 72 MW Tyuni Palasu Project on the Tons River in Dehradun district. The Board also issued guidelines regarding the approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 81 MW Arakot Tyuni Hydroelectric Project on the Pabbar River.
Besides Bardhan, R Meenakshi Sundaram Principal Secretary Energy, Dilip Jawalkar Secretary Finance were also present in the meeting. Independent Directors Indu Kumar Pande, B.P. Pandey, and Parag Gupta, A.K. Singh Managing Director UJVN, Suresh Chandra Baluni (Director, Projects), Sudhakar Badoni (Executive Director), and Ashish Jain were also present in the meeting.
