Two pilgrims from Ghaziabad were drowned in the Ganga river at Dudhia Van area in Haridwar district in Uttarakhand on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred when the two persons identified as Brijesh Kumar Tripathi (43) and Sachin Tyagi (39) were taking bath in the Ganga when they were suddenly washed away in the strong currents of the river. They were residents of Quantum Society of Rajnagar extension in Ghaziabad.

After getting the information, an SDRF team rushed to the spot and retrieved the two men from the river. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
