US announces truce with Iran, talks to be held in Pakistan

President Donald Trump has announced two-week ceasefire with Iran, a move confirmed by Tehran which also agreed to reopen Hormuz strait for oil vessels.

However, media reports on Wednesday said though US military has paused strikes on Iran, Israel was still carrying out strikes against Iran.

Iranian leaders too said they would continue attacks against Israel.

Iran’s military will coordinate passage of vessels through the critical Strait of Hormuz during the ceasefire, Iran’s foreign minister said. Trump said reopening the strait was a key condition of the ceasefire deal.

Pakistan’s prime minister Shahbaz Sharif who played crucial role in the truce, has invited delegations from both Iran and the US to Islamabad for talks on Friday. Earlier Tuesday, Pakistan proposed the two-week ceasefire to allow for diplomacy.
