Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle (92) who was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening due to multiple health issues, passed away on Sunday, media reports said.

Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, has earlier confirmed on social media that the singer was hospitalised due to “extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.”

Asha Bhosle has received Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2000) and Padma Vibhushan (2008).

Known for her versatility, she has been described as one of the greatest and most influential singers in Hindi cinema with her career spanning over eight decades.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news of her death and said that the last rites would be held on Monday. “She is no more. Her last rites will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
