Dr Ambedkar’s anniversary celebrated at SJA

Dehradun-based St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) on Tuesday celebrated the 135th Birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the school auditorium.

Principal SJA, Brother Joseph M. Joseph, coordinators, teachers, and students of Classes VIII to XII participated in the special function where glowing tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar, who was the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The celebration commenced with a heartfelt introduction to the life and legacy of Dr Ambedkar, tracing his inspiring journey from humble beginnings to becoming a principal architect of modern India. The introduction poignantly highlighted his relentless work for the social justice and his unwavering commitment to equality, dignity, and education for all.

This was followed by a series of powerful speeches in both English and Hindi, wherein students eloquently articulated Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Their words reflected not only admiration but also a thoughtful engagement with his vision for an equitable society.

An engaging and insightful Video presentation further enriched the programme, illustrating significant milestones from his life. It highlighted his pivotal role in the drafting of the Constitution of India, where he laid the foundation of a democratic nation by ensuring fundamental rights, abolishing untouchability, and establishing safeguards for social justice. His tireless crusade against the evil of untouchability and his advocacy for the upliftment of the oppressed were presented with clarity and depth. His contributions as an eminent economist, jurist, and champion of education left a lasting impression on the audience.

In his address, the Principal SJA delivered a profound and inspiring message, urging all present to draw strength from the life and ideals of Dr Ambedkar. He emphasized the transformative power of education, the value of perseverance, and the moral responsibility to stand against injustice, encouraging students to grow into responsible, aware, and compassionate citizens.

The programme concluded with the school song, fostering a sense of unity and pride, followed by the National Anthem.

The celebration served as a powerful reminder of Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and his invaluable contributions towards building an inclusive, just, and progressive nation.
