Oil companies on Friday announced a hike of Rs 3 per litre in petrol and Rs 3.11 in diesel prices in the country. The fuel price hike is only around one-tenth of the rise that would have been required to fully offset the sharp jump in global energy prices since the Middle East crisis began on Feb 28. Additionally, prices of CNG have gone up by Rs 2 per kg.
