Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar showered praise on his son Arjun Tendulkar (26) after he made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants against Punjab Kings in Mohali on Saturday night.
Arjun, who finally got his opportunity in the last league match of the season, returned figures of 1/36 in his maiden IPL appearance. However, his effort could not prevent Lucknow Super Giants from suffering a heavy seven wicket defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings.
Despite the disappointing result, Sachin expressed pride in the way his son handled the long wait for his chance and the pressure of debuting on one of cricket’s biggest stages.
Taking to social media after the match, the batting great wrote an emotional message encouraging Arjun to remain grounded and continue enjoying the game.
“Well done, Arjun. Proud of the way you’ve carried yourself through this season, always believing in your ability, staying patient, working hard quietly, and remaining positive despite having to wait for your opportunity till the very last match,” Sachin posted.
“Cricket tests patience as much as skill, and you handled both beautifully today. Keep your feet on the ground, and continue being in love with the game like you always have. Love you always,” he added.
Arjun’s debut drew significant attention from cricket fans, with many eager to see how the son of one of the game’s greatest players would perform at the highest level of franchise cricket. Though the outing was modest, his breakthrough wicket and composed spell offered glimpses of promise for the young left-arm pacer.
The father-son moment quickly became a talking point on social media, with fans appreciating Sachin’s heartfelt words and Arjun’s perseverance after spending much of the season on the sidelines.
