Veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini has completed 60 remarkable years in Indian cinema, marking a milestone in one of the most celebrated careers in the history of Indian films.

A function was held in Mumbai to celebrate the occasion. “Such a memorable, well organised event! The Diamond Jubilee of my years in the film industry was curated and celebrated with so much pomp and grandeur that it was truly mind boggling! As for the wonderful audience who filled the auditorium, they appeared engrossed in the music of my films and they remained glued to the very end. The Hon Kiran Rijiju ji and the state minister, Ashish Shelar ji spoke about my contribution and praised Dharam ji as a true legend of the film industry,” the Dream Girl wrote on X.

Known as Bollywood’s “Dream Girl,” Hema Malini made her acting debut in 1968 and went on to become one of the biggest stars of the 1970s and 1980s. Over six decades, she has delivered several iconic performances in classics such as Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, Dream Girl, Satte Pe Satta, Kranti, and Baghban, earning widespread acclaim for her versatility and graceful screen presence.

Celebrating the landmark occasion, the veteran actor expressed gratitude to her fans, colleagues and well-wishers for their constant love and encouragement throughout her journey. She said the affection she has received over the years has been her greatest strength and motivation.

Apart from acting, Hema Malini has also established herself as an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, producer, director and public representative. She currently serves as a Member of Parliament from Mathura.

Her illustrious career has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of her contribution to Indian cinema.

As she completes six decades in films, tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry, with admirers celebrating her enduring legacy and immense contribution to Indian cinema.
