After his surprise inspection at ISBT in Dehradun last month, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday visited the city’s Dalanwala police station and found its SHO absent.
Enraged by the dereliction of duty, Dhami immediately ordered that SHO Dalanwala Manoj Mainwal be sent to lines on punishment.
The Chief Minister made it clear that any level of negligence in sensitive responsibilities such as law and order and public service will not be tolerated and asserted that strict action will be taken in such cases.
After attending a meeting at Nanur Khera, the Chief Minister Dhami went straight to the police station and conducted a thorough inspection. The Chief Minister’s surprise visit caused a stir in the police department.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister spoke directly with several complainants at the police station and listened attentively to their problems. He instructed the police personnel to register complaints not as a mere formality but as a responsibility and asked them to ensure their immediate, impartial, and effective resolution.
The Chief Minister also visited the women’s help desk and interacted with the women complainants present, inquiring about their grievances. He emphasized the importance of sensitivity, confidentiality, and prompt action in matters related to women’s safety and warned of strict action against any laxity.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed displeasure at the dirt in the police station’s lockup and instructed that proper cleaning arrangements be made immediately in accordance with the standards. He stated that the condition of the police station reflects the work culture of the administration.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun Ajai Singh immediately arrived at the police station and initiated necessary disciplinary action against the SHO.
During the inspection at Dehradun ISBT last month, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure at the waste littered around several places. He warned that any negligence in cleanliness at important public places like the ISBT would not be tolerated.
