Assembly polls: BJP holds core committee meeting

Ahead of the assembly elections early next year in Uttarakhand, the ruling BJP on Saturday held a crucial meeting of the core committee to meet new challenges especially in the light of the opposition’s repeated attacks in the Ankita Bhandari murder case.

The meeting which was held under the leadership of Union Health Minster J P Nadda called for better coordination between the government and the organization.

Most of the top leaders including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and state party President Mahendra Bhatt were present in the meeting which was held in a hotel close to the Jollygrant airport in Dehradun.

Significantly, Nadda praised Chief Minister Dhami and urged the organization to disseminate the government’s achievements to the people especially those related to the UCC and anti-copying law.

“Today, in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, held a meeting with the members of the BJP Uttarakhand Core Committee and discussed organizational issues. Under the guidance of respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the BJP’s double engine government is working at a rapid pace towards building a developed Uttarakhand for the creation of a developed India. Every BJP worker is committed to the overall development of Uttarakhand and the welfare of the people,” Nadda said.

Later, Bhatt said Nadda provided strategic guidance on how the party can work together to achieve a big victory in the upcoming assembly elections.

Bhatt explained that three main points were discussed in the meeting: improving coordination between the government and the organization, communicating the government’s achievements to the public, and holding booth-level conferences and training workers in view of the assembly elections.

He added that it was also decided that a meeting between the organization and the Chief Minister would be held on February 17. A separate meeting on March 23 will be held to mark the completion of four years of the state government. A public rally in this regard with a target of two lakh people would also be organized. Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah will be requested to attend the rally.

The state party president said that training for the workers will also start from February 17, under which workshops will be organised at various levels.
