India suffered its first defeat in the T20 World Cup 2026 when they lost to South Africa by a huge margin of 76 runs at Ahmedabad in the super 8.
David Miller and Tristan Stubbs propelled South Africa to set a respectable target of 188 runs for India despite a disastrous start. At one point, Proteas were 20/3 when Miller took the command. Millar was supported by Dewald Brevis from the other end. The two players took the score to 117 before Brevis was caught by Abhishek Sharma on the bowling of Shivam Dube. Stubbs also played well and South Africa made handsome total of 187 runs.
Chasing the target, India’s start was equally bad. Ishan Kishan could not show his charisma at Ahmedabad as he was dismissed cheaply for zero. From Indian side only Shivam Dube made some brilliant shots to score 42 runs as India managed to cross three digit mark. India was finally bundled out for 111.
