Two vital arrests in sensational gangster Vikram Sharma murder case

The Uttarakhand police on Monday said they have arrested two persons in the sensational notorious gangster Vikram Sharma murder case in Dehradun and claimed they would soon nab the main accused also.

Giving details of the investigations so far in the case, top police officials said Sharma was killed by Ashutosh Singh (26) and his accomplice Vishal Singh (28) both hailing from Jharkhand after months-long planning.

Moments after he 0came out of gym near Silver City Cinemas at Rajpur Road on Feb 13, three bullets were pumped into the head of Sharma, who was killed instantly on the stairs. The police has announced a reward of Rs 25,00 each on Ashutosh Singh, Vishal Singh and four other accused who are still absconding in the case.

Ashutosh Singh, a small-time criminal from Jharkhand, had hatched the murder conspiracy because he wanted to become a big gangster, said a police statement jointly issued by SSP Dehradun Parmendra Dobal and STF SSP Ajai Singh.

So far, one Rajkumar, who paid for the motorcycle and scooter rented in Haridwar for the shooters, was arrested from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on February 19, and other Mohit alias Akshat Thakur, who arranged for the accused’s stay and food, was arrested from Noida on Monday.

Police officials said a manhunt was continuing against the six accused. Besides Ashutosh and Vishal, four other accused have been identified as Ankit Verma, a resident of Jamshedpur, Akash Kumar Prasad (28), Yashraj, and Jitendra Kumar Sahu, a resident of Singhbhum.

Ankit Verma, who had joined the gym in November last, had informed the shooters about Vikram Sharma’s arrival at the gym on the fateful morning of February 13 while Akash Prasad took the shooters from the scene to Sahasradhara Road on an Apache motorcycle having no registration no. Yashraj, son of arrested accused Rajkumar, also owns the black Scorpio in which the shooters and Akash travelled from Haridwar to Noida. Jitendra Sahu owns the Apache motorcycle used during the murder.

The gangster Sharma and his associates were facing several cases registered against them in Jharkhand for murder, attempted murder, and extortion, and were out on bail.

Police said the accused wanted to kill Sharma in Jhkarkhand and Noida because he was always surrounded by his associates.

After getting information that Sharma used to go gym near Silver City Cinemas, Ankit too joined it to track down the movements closely.
