Three persons have been arrested after they were found involved in sending people illegally to work in cybercrime cells in Myanmar, police said on Sunday.

In another development, nine persons were brought back to Uttarakhand and handed over to their families. So far, a total of 22 people have been brought back to Uttarakhand, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Kush Mishra (IPS).

Police said scores of young Indian men from different states who were illegally residing in K.K. Park, located in Myawaddy city of Myanmar (Burma), in the name of employment, were brought back to India. It has come to light that Indian agents, under an organized plan, fraudulently took large amounts of money from these youths and sent them abroad using Thailand visas, leading them to illegally enter K.K. Park in Myawaddy.

In this sequence, a total of nine persons from Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand were brought from Delhi and handed over to their families.

During the preliminary inquiry, it was found that Indian agents contacted the victims individually or through mobile applications such as Telegram and WhatsApp, and after taking various amounts of money, sent them to Bangkok. Their flight tickets, visas, and other necessary documents for Bangkok were provided on mobile itself. From Bangkok, different individuals transported them using various vehicles and on foot across rivers, streams, and mountains illegally into K.K. Park in the city of Myawaddy, Myanmar, where they were held captive in the Chinese companies.
While staying in Myawaddy, they were forcibly trained in cybercrime, including mobile number tracing using different types of applications and websites. At this location, youths from various countries such as Vietnam, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and African nations were similarly held in captivity in the name of employment and were forced by unknown criminals to commit cybercrimes.
Based on various inquiries, three persons identified as Sunil Kumar, Nirav Chaudhary and Pradip have been arrested, said Mishra.
