After sharp rise in temp, hills of UK, Himachal, JK may witness cold days ahead

After some warm days, hills of Uttarakhand and other parts of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to witness sharp decline in temperatures in the next few days in view of the prediction of light rainfall and snowfall.

“light rainfall/snowfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 07th -13th March; Fairly widespread light rainfall/snowfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir on 11th March,” the IMD said.

The temperature in Dehradun and other parts of Uttarakhand has been continuously rising in the past few days. With most of the people stopping wearing warm clothes in Dehradun, the minimum temperature has risen rapidly by six notches in the past 2-3 days from 12 degree C to 17.8 on Saturday which was 6 degrees C more than the normal temperature.

The maximum temperature is hovering around 30-31 degree C during the past 2-3 days. On Saturday, the max temperature was 31.5 degree C which was 5 degree C more than the normal.

During past 24 hours Maximum temperatures remained appreciably above normal in the plains and above normal in hills of Uttarakhand, the IMD said.

It further said very light to light rain rainfall/Thunderstorm/snowfall (at places with altitude 4000m and above) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday.

Dry weather likely to prevail in remaining districts of Uttarakhand indicating there will be not much change in day’s temperatures in the plains.
