The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of scattered rainfall in Dehradun, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on Friday, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the state.
The higher reaches of Uttarakhand also received snowfall on Thursday.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms at many places in Dehradun, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts and at a few places in the remaining districts. Snowfall is likely in areas situated at elevations of 4,200 metres and above.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph are likely at isolated places across all districts of the state, the weather department said.
During past 24 hours, Maximum temperatures remained below normal in plains and appreciably below normal in hills of Uttarakhand.
