5.1 earthquake hits Morigaon in Assam (updating)

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Morigaon area in Assam early Monday, geologists said.

The quake with a depth of 50 km hit Morigaon around 4.17 AM, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said. However, USGS said the magnitude was 4.9 in Morigaon. Earlier, USGS has stated that the magnitude was 5.4.

However, there were no reports of any loss of life and property in the area.

Meanwhile, the USGS has reported one more earthquake measuring 5.2 in Dhing area, near Morigaon, in Assam at 4.17 AM (same time) on Monday.
