Five people were killed in three different accidents in Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours, police said on Sunday.

Three people travelling in a Mahindra XUV500 were killed and one injured when it skidded off the road and rolled down 60 feet deep into Shipra River near Kainchidham area in Nainital district on Saturday night. The injured was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

The deceased included Sanjay Bisht, Surendra Bhandari and Pushkar Bhaisora – all hailing from Almora.

A car fell into deep khud at Bhariyar village in Tehri district on Saturday night killing its driver Belup Singh Gusai (55).

In yet another accident, a dumper fell into deep khud at Kotdwar area in Pauri district on Sunday killing its driver identified as Dhirendra Rawat (36).
