The Institution of Engineers (India), Uttarakhand State Centre, Dehradun, on Monday celebrated the 58th Engineers’ Day with great enthusiasm to mark the 164th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

The theme for this year’s celebration was “Deep Tech and Engineering Excellence: Driving India’s Techade.”

The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Onkar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University in the presence of Special Guests Narendra Singh, Former President of Institution of Engineers India, Subhash Pandey, Chief Engineer, Irrigation Department, Rajesh Chandra Sharma, Chief Engineer PWD, Amitabh Maitra, Chairman, Uttarakhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority, N.P. Singh, Managing Director, BRIDCUL and B.K. Tiwari, Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation Department.

The ceremony began with lighting of the lamp and paying tribute to Sir Visvesvaraya.

Chandra Prakash Sharma, Chairman of IEI Uttarakhand State Chapter, delivered the theme address highlighting India’s journey of development.

Chief Guest Prof. Onkar Singh remembered the invaluable contributions of Sir Visvesvaraya and urged engineers to follow his path. He emphasized that engineers are the torchbearers of national development and must work in harmony with nature and environment.

Former National President of IEI Narendra Singh also shared insights on Sir Visvesvaraya’s legacy, stating that his relentless efforts and technical excellence laid a strong foundation for modern engineering in India.

The event also featured colorful cultural performances. A large number of engineers and officials from various departments and institutions attended the program.
