Amid heatwave, rains may come in next 2-3 days

Amid the severe heatwave conditions, the IMD on Tuesday indicated that rains might occur at isolated areas in north India including parts of Uttarakhand in the next 2-3 few days.

But heat wave to severe heat wave conditions likely to continue to prevail over northwest and central India during the week, it said.

The IMD also said heat wave likely to occur at isolated places over Haridwar, Dehradun and adjoining areas of Uttarkashi district adjacent to Dehradun districts on May 20.

In Dehradun, the maximum temperature rose by another notch to 39.7 degree C, which was 4 degree more than the normal. The minimum temp however remained around 23.1. Pantnagar was the hottest place in Uttarakhand with temperature touching 40.2 degree C. The IMD said the temperature in Dehradun may cross 40 on May 20.

Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) likely over Jammu-Kashmir during 19th-22nd; Isolated light to moderate rainfall over Uttarakhand on 22nd & 23rd May and Himachal Pradesh on 21st & 22nd May, IMD said.
