Four members of a family and a driver were killed when a Mahindra vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near Bhowali area of Nainital district in Uttarakhand on Thursday,
The accident occurred when the vehicle carrying a total of five people skidded off the road and rolled down into a 500 deep gorge. All the five were killed on the spot.
Upon receiving information, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nainital, Dr. Manjunath TC, immediately dispatched a police team to assist SDRF in the rescue operation.
The police and the SDRF personnel retrieved all five bodies from the gorge and brought them up to the main road for further legal formalities.
An investigation has been launched to find the exact cause of the accident.
Among the dead include Bhupendra Singh Chufal (48) from Khatima, his wife and two children. The driver of the vehicle was also killed.
