The state-run UJVN Ltd on Tuesday announced the implementation of Energy Audit and ISO 50001 Energy Management System to enhance operational efficiency.
“The effective implementation of Energy Audit and ISO 50001 will ensure continuous improvement in energy performance and also enhance operational efficiency,” UJVN Managing Director Ajay Kumar Singh said.
He said this initiative would help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and establishing a scientific and data-driven mechanism for controlling energy costs.
Singh stated that energy efficiency is no longer merely a necessity but also an economic and environmental responsibility. “Even if only 0.1 percent energy savings are achieved through energy efficiency measures, UJVN Limited could save approximately 5 million units of energy. This saving would not only be economically significant but would also contribute substantially towards strengthening the energy security of the state and the nation,” he said.
He said UJVN Limited is already certified with international quality and management systems such as ISO 9001 (QMS), ISO 14001 (EMS), ISO 45001 (OH & MS), and ISO 27001 (ISMS). With the implementation of ISO 50001 Energy Management System, awareness regarding energy conservation, resource optimization, and sustainable development will be further strengthened at all levels of the workforce.
