A group of Nihangs have entered Nagrasu Gurdwara in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand calling for release of their four associates who were arrested after a recent brawl in Karanprayag area.
Security has been tightened around the Gurdwar in view of the tension.
Police officials stationed near Nagrasu Gurdwara said the tension arose when 6-7 Nihangs holding swords and other weapons barged into the temple and started heated arguments with Gurudwara officials.
When police arrived at the scene, the Nihangs went to the rooftop of the Gurdwar along with an old man of the Gurdwara,
However, the Nihngs have not been identified, police sources said.
“We are holding talks with these Nihangs. Efforts are on to find a solution to the problem,” a police official said. Four Nihangs were arrested recently at Karanprayag area when they allegedly attacked a group of local people.
