Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his official residence here on Sunday to discuss the state’s film policy and opportunities for film production.
Kumar is currently shooting for his upcoming film in Mussoorie and Rishikesh.
Dhami said Uttarakhand was strengthening its position as a major film-shooting destination, thanks to its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. He said the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 had begun yielding positive results, with filmmakers being offered shooting permissions through a single-window system and financial incentives to encourage film production.
The state government aims to attract more film projects and create employment opportunities for local artists, technicians and youth. Increased film production would also benefit tourism, hotels, transport and other local businesses, Dhami said.
He assured filmmakers of the state government’s support in promoting Uttarakhand as a preferred destination for film production.
