The Army Commander Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command along with Lt Gen DG Misra, GOC Uttar Bharat Area, on Thursday visited Dharali village in Uttarkashi to review and coordinate ongoing rescue and relief operations being conducted by Indian Army.
Approximately 225 Army personnel have been pressed in rescue operations, an army statement said. Over 150 civilians have been evacuated to safer places. Additional columns have also been mobilised to expedite rescue operations in Gangotri and Dharali.
The Army Commander Lt Gen Sengupta appreciated the unwavering commitment of the troops and assured the citizens that the Indian Army in coordination with other agencies and civil authorities, will continue to extend all assistance till such time last survivor is extricated.
