Gaurav (5) on Thursday is battling with life in the ICU in Dehradun a day after he was brutally attacked by a neighbour aunty over an old dispute with his parents. He is on ventilator.
Police arrested Meena Devi for hitting Gaurav on head other parts with a silbatta, a kitchen grinding stone, which left him injured seriously in Reeth Mandi area of Dehradun.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when Gaurav was playing in the street outside his house. All of a sudden, Devi came and asked Gaurav not to play in the street. Soon, she took him to her house where she hit him repeatedly with silbatta which left him bleeding profusely.
The child was immediately rushed to a government hospital where he is battling with life in the ICU.
The woman was arrested from Lakkhibagh area after a complaint of the victim’s father Jagpal.
In his complaint to the police, Jagpal said that he had earlier a dispute with Devi, wife of Danveer, who lives in front of his house, over some issue. After the child was admitted to the government Doon Hospital in a critical condition, a medical examination revealed that several bones in his head were broken. The child has been kept in the ICU of the hospital.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the woman under Section 109/118(2) of the BNS.
During interrogation, Devi admitted that she committed the crime to take revenge for an old dispute with the child’s family.
