Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami purchased traditional earthen lamps and locally produced goods in his home district of Khatima in Kumaon region as part of the “adopt swadeshi” campaign.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to encourage local artisans, craftsmen, and indigenous product manufacturers during Diwali, which will not only strengthen the resolve for a self-reliant India but also boost the economy of villages and towns.

The Chief Minister said Diwali is not only a festival of lights, joy, and happiness, but also a symbol of self-reliance, respect, and self-respect. He said, “When we purchase lamps or other indigenous products made in our villages and towns, we honor a family’s livelihood, their hard work, and their hopes.”

The Chief Minister said the state government is continuously working to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge of “Vocal for Local” and “Self-reliant India.” The purchase of indigenous products also directly benefits local crafts, cottage industries, and women’s self-help groups, he said.

He said the artisans of Uttarakhand have a rich tradition and skill. Earthen lamps, handmade decorative items, organic products, and mountain foods are not only popular locally but are also making their mark nationally and internationally.

Chief Minister Dhami said that every citizen should pledge to light their homes with indigenous products this Diwali, so that the light of happiness can also be lit in the homes of other families. “This Diwali, let us all together realize the dream of a self-reliant India. Our small purchases can become a ray of hope in the life of a family.”

The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt greetings to all the people of the state on Diwali, Dhanteras, and Bhaiya Dooj, saying that these festivals bring happiness, prosperity, and new energy to everyone’s life.

Local public representatives, businessmen, women from self-help groups, and citizens were present in large numbers on this occasion.
