After the death of her husband, Priya (26), a mother of four daughters, was feeling harassed literally running from pillar to post over the issue of her home loan.
A non-banking financial company colluding with an insurance company was harassing Priya, who lives in Hathibarkala in Dehradun, refusing to settle the loan which her late husband Vikas Kumar took for building a home. The loan was fully insured.
After not getting any reprieve, Priya approached District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal who promptly issued a recovery challan of Rs 6.50 lakh to the manager of the finance company immediately.
“While the district administration is continuously giving the people their rights through its strict decisions, it is also tightening the noose around those who unnecessarily harass the people, due to which the fear of the administration has also increased among those who commit such acts,” a statement by the office of the DM said.
In the case of Priya’s loan, the DM has ordered the manager to deposit the amount within the stipulated time. in case of not depositing the amount, the bank branch will be raided and recovered, it said.
Priya’s case is not new. Another bank came under the scrutiny last year. The DM had taken similar action in the case related to Shivani Gupta. The bank officials rushed to the house of the complainant with the property papers after the DM’s strong action.
