The Uttarakhand police has launched investigations and filed an FIR against four police cops including two sub-inspectors for allegedly beating a car driver near Mussoorie Diversion in Dehradun in August, a top police official said on Friday.
The move came after Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-III (Dehradun) Sahista Bano ordered the police to launch the investigations on a complaint filed by Kunal Chowdhary, who alleged that the four policemen thrashed him on Aug 6 when he was crossing the Mussoorie Diversion area under the garb of an alcohol test.
Chowdhary further alleged that despite not being drunk, he was forced to pay a challan for drunken driving by the police cops on duty. When he protested, all the four started hitting him with punches and kicks due to which he received injuries.
“We have already filed an FIR at the Rajpur Police station and investigations are on,” said SP (City) Pramod Kumar. However, Kumar made it clear all the four policemen have (not) been suspended.
