Dehradun: In a tragic accident, four youths were killed after the scooter they were riding was hit by a speeding car in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district, police said on Sunday.
The accident occurred late on Saturday night at the Teenpani Bypass in the Haldwani area when the car, reportedly heading towards Haldwani city, rammed into the two-wheeler.
Three of the victims died on the spot, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Rahul Rajput (17), Shubham (17), Anshu Arya (23) and Aditya Tamta (18), all residents of Haldwani.
Police said the car driver fled the scene after the accident. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the vehicle and arrest the driver. The exact cause of the accident is being investigated.
