A man brutally murdered his girlfriend by allegedly slitting her throat with a sharp-edged knife in broad daylight in Haridwar’s industrial area on Monday, police said.

Hansika Yadav (22), who worked in a factory at the SIDCUL industrial estate, was attacked at an intersection by her lover identified as Pradip Pal (28).  Pal with a knife slit the throat of the girl, who started bleeding profusely.

After the attack, Yadav was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Soon, Pal fled from the scene.

On receiving the information, senior police officers rushed to the spot and collected vital evidences. Another police team has started hunt for the accused.

The preliminary investigations revealed that both Pal and Yadav were residents of Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh and had come to Haridwar for a job. The two were in a relationship for the last four years and were live-in partners for a long time.

In the past few months, the relations between the two became strained and the communication was stopped.

Police believed that Pal suspected Yadav of having an affair with some other youth. The strained relations also probably led to the murder, police said
