Heatwave prevails in several parts of India

The heat wave conditions prevailed in several parts of India on Monday with temperatures rising above 40 degrees in many places.

The IMD has warned that heat wave to severe heat wave conditions likely to prevail over the plains of northwest India and central India during the week. The highest maximum temperature of 46.4°C was reported at Banda (Uttar Pradesh).

The temperature in Dehradun continued to rise with mercury touching 38.9 degree C on Friday making it the hottest day of summer season. Dehradun had recorded 37.4 degree C on Sunday.

However, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (speed 40-50 Kmph) is likely to occur in some parts of Uttarakhand from May 20-22, IMD said.

The maximum temperature of 38.9 degree C in Dehradun which was 3 degree C more than the normal bringing in fresh wave of heat spell in the capital.

The minimum temperature also rose to 22.6 degree C in Dehradun.

For Dehradun, the met centre said the sky will be mainly clear on Tuesday. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 39°C and 25° in Dehradun, it said.
