Heavy rains on Monday lashed several parts of Uttarakhand inundating areas in the plains with water level rising in most of the rivers.
An alert has been issued in the state amid IMD’s warning of heavy rains in areas like Uttarkashi district.
However, no loss of life or property has been reported so far in the state.
Schools in Dehradun and some other parts of the state remained closed on Monday as precautionary step due to the warning of heavy rains.
In Dehradun, Asan river inundated several low-lying areas like Bhurpur with the police force evacuating people residing there. Police has warned people to remain alert in view the heavy rains in low lying areas of Dehradun.
In Satpuli area of Pauri district, three youths were rescued by SDRF after they were caught in a swollen river.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami went to the state emergency operation centre in Dehradun to take the stock of the situation. He inquired form the top officials about the latest situation related to heavy rains in the state. He instructed the officials to provide updates about the weather to the Chardham pilgrims regularly.
Meanwhile, the water level in Ganga, Yamuna and other rivers was rising due to the heavy rains. However, the level in these rivers was below danger mark.
