Several areas including Badrinath and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand on Friday continued to experience snowfall, the heaviest in March in recent years plummeting temperatures steeply in the hill state.
In the plains, light to heavy rains continued in most of the areas of the state. Dehradun recorded a maximum of 17.4 degree C, a steep fall of 10 degrees since Thursday which was also -11 degrees below normal. Pantnagar, Mukteshwar and New Tehri also reported heavy fall in temperatures.
The hill resort of Mussoorie recorded 32 mm of rainfall in the day.
Reports pouring in from different hill districts said snowfall was continuing in Auli, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri areas.
The met Centre in Dehradun said Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm / snowfall (at places with altitude 3000m and above) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on Saturday. Very light to light rainfall / thunderstorm likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand in the next 24 hours. Dry weather likely to prevail in remaining districts of Uttarakhand
The Met centre said the weather in the capital will remain mainly clear to partly cloudy sky on Saturday. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 24°C and 12°C in Dehradun.
