Uttarakhand was on high alert on Monday for the next 24 hours forcing the authorities to declare holidays in schools in all districts including Dehradun.
“We are on high alert in Uttarakhand. In some places there is red alert and in other districts there is orange alert,” said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who is closely monitoring the grim situation in the state where a series of disasters have left a big trail of death and destruction.
On August 5, the Dharali market comprising scores of shops, hotels, homestays and houses in Uttarkashi district on the Gangotri highway was completely wiped out following calamitous flash floods that left 2 people dead and 67 others missing. The missing persons are still untraceable.
