According to the warning issued by DGRE, the districts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag have been placed in the orange category (Category-3). In this category, deep and unstable snow is present on most avalanche paths, increasing the likelihood of natural avalanches. These avalanches can be of moderate size. “In this situation, only limited movement on selected and relatively safe routes is considered appropriate, and any activity on snow-covered slopes can be risky,” the statement said.

Pithoragarh district has been placed in the yellow category (Category-2). In this category, unstable snow is found on some avalanche paths, and there is a possibility of small natural avalanches in limited areas. In such a situation, movement in the valley areas is possible with caution, but it is necessary to avoid going onto snow-covered slopes.
