Kothiyal sets new example in UK as he abjures perks

BJP leader Col (retd) Ajay Kothiyal on Thursday announced that he would not draw his annual perks and salary amounting to Rs 25-30 lakh from the government for holding the post of the Chairman the state Sainik Kalyan Board, a move widely welcomed in the hill state.

An announcement to this effect was made by Kothiyal through social media. Kothiyal urged the government to utilize these funds for the welfare of various schemes for the ex-servicemen.

“I am a retired army officer. I got gallantry awards like kirti chakra and shaurya chakra. I get money every month for holding these awards besides my pension is sufficient enough to sustain myself,” he said.
